Maurice BRIANCHON was a professor at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs from 1938 to 1949, then at the Beaux-Arts from 1950.

A very-well known artist who was a member of the Ecole de Paris, he painted in the réalité poétique style and also held an important place in the renovation of the French tapestries.

Georges FONTAINE, the director of the Mobilier National, asked him in 1944 two drawings on two theater themes : the Ballet and the Opera.

Jacques ADNET also asked him to draw six drawings between 1941 and 1946, among which included Les Champs Elysées for the Compagnie des Arts Français.
